Starting at 6:15 in the morning, 12 robotics students loaded into their cars for the one hour trek to San Jose. Our first day began with defeat. The robot did not move because our code was unable to deploy. Quickly rectifying this issue, we were able to win our fourth match 72 to 49. In the rest of the qualification matches, we won enough times to make it to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, we won both match 1 and match 2, with scores of 93 to 28 and 81 to 40 respectively, earning us a spot in the semifinals! Because our climber broke, we didn’t make it to the finals. Even so, we still gained valuable insights. Overall, this was a fantastic start to the school year for Team 5419!
